YAY! Republicans Are Taking Away More & More Women’s Rights

by Matthew Harris

I swear, it seems like there’s been a glitch in the matrix, a collision of multiverses, or some other hitch in the giddy-up of our country lately because things are all sorts of out of whack. To put it mildly.

With several states already passing laws restricting or even outright prohibiting abortions and even more set to follow suit, you have to wonder what could possibly be next.

Now, this is one of those articles where I have to throw in a disclaimer and say, “the views expressed within don’t necessarily reflect the views of CTN, our CEO Dennis Lewis, the staff, yada, yada, yada.”

I’m also going to say that yes, I am pro-choice.

Additionally, while I’ve been a lifelong and voting Republican born and bred in the fully red state of Texas, the recent state of affairs has left me no choice but to opt out. As I’ve said before, “Trump ruined the gene pool.”

So with that out of the way… let’s take a look at where our current trajectory could take us on women’s rights.

According to several states now, a woman has no right to an abortion if she is the victim of rape or incest, and some dictate that after 6 weeks of pregnancy or at the first sign of a heartbeat an abortion is a no go.

Now, this means that any time a sexually active woman misses a single menstrual cycle, she has approximately 2 weeks to decide what she wants to do with HER body. Beyond that, the government demands that she carry the child to term and then either raise it or relinquish it to an already overcrowded, under-funded, and piss-poorly managed and regulated adoption process.

And what’s sadly funny about these laws is that so many of them are being passed by men. That’s right, once again the men are saying that they know best and the “women folk” have to be told what they can and can’t do with their bodies.

So, with the crazy way this country has been acting lately, it’d be no surprise at all to see the following from Republicans.

With the utilization of blockchain, smart contracts and distributed ledgers, state and federal agencies could just go ahead and control every aspect of the reproductive process.

A “stable genius” could easily direct the creation of an agency of “Repro Men” that forces women to document each and every time they have sex. Of course it wouldn’t be much of a stretch from there for them to require an entry for number of orgasms, positions, and what sort of birth control or prophylactics were used.

With smart contracts, the good ole boys in charge could even automatically mail them the morning after pill or set OBGYN appointments whether they want it or not. After all, we know what’s best for them, right guys?

Just to keep things “transparent” and fully regulated, ladies would use the blockchain based system to record their periods — when, how long, and hell, go for broke with how heavy of a flow. This would help ensure that we get those women with possible pregnancies or health issues to the appropriate “authorities” in record time.

Let’s not forget the rape and incest victims. Even though many of these incidents go unreported, with the implementation of period patrol those lucky women could be quickly found. As an added bonus, since she didn’t record her sexual escapade that resulted in the pregnancy, the victim can be “taxed” for breaking the law. A win-win for Republicans everywhere, right?

For single moms that didn’t miss that first period and have no idea they were pregnant until month 3 or 4, Republicans can make sure that she raises the child right too. School work, medical appointments, and even child rearing practices could all be dictated and recorded by the system. We can’t leave that to someone so irresponsible with their body of course.

And who would the miners of this system be? Why men of course! Just like the men of old who went down in the mines to make a living and provide for the “little lady” that is dutifully taking care of the immaculate home and ensuring dinner is on the table on time.

I could go on and on regarding the possibilities our saviors in Red could provide these damsels in distress with blockchain-based technology, but I’ll leave some up to your imagination.

While I know that many of us are hopeful that the Supreme Court is going to strike these ignorant laws down, with the King, I mean President, stuffing SCOTUS with conservatives and so many Republican state leaders dropping to their knees in front of Trump anytime they hear the sound of a zipper, the next few months are going to be damned interesting.
