Here’s something to think about. The global market capitalization of cryptocurrencies is over $600 billion with tons of potential to keep growing. People making six-figure incomes from trading crypto may not be a fantasy as Bitcoin becomes more mainstream, a more rare commodity, and with another halving coming up. In three to five years, we could potentially see an uptick in crypto millionaires.

No, we don’t have a magic crystal ball to foretell the future, but we strongly believe in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology that supports it.

As for the traders listed below, you may learn a thing or two from their stories but don’t be fooled into thinking that everyone who ventures into crypto will be successful. Our list includes investors who have been into Bitcoin at, or very near the beginning when it wasn’t cool. And none of them are “overnight success” stories either.

The Shortlist

Charlie Shrem

Charlie Shrem is an example of what we might consider the never quit and never say die Bitcoin trader. He lost all of his investments in Bitcoin trading, returned to it but then got sent to prison for being associated with the Silk Road, lost most of his fortune again, and finally returned to amass a wealth of over $45 million all in the space of trading Bitcoin in five years. What makes Charlie unique is his vast knowledge of Bitcoin trading and willingness to take huge risks. Although Charlie is a risk-taker, he researches the market to see where sentiments lie, then exploits it.

Ian Balina

Unlike Shrem, Ian Balina is a very successful cryptocurrency trader who also has experience as a successful investment advisor. He trades in multiple currencies instead of just Bitcoin. It seems that Balina’s most substantial token in his investment portfolio is Bitcoin, having nurtured his stake from a $100,000 holding to upwards of about $6 million in two years (2015 to 2017). In 2018, he was said to have lost $2 million when one of his cryptocurrency wallets was hacked during a livestream. OUCH.

Kingsley Advani

In 2018, a business insider wrote an article on a 24-year old Bitcoin trader who converted his $34,000 life savings into a low-end seven figure amount. Rough guestimates have Kingsley Advani making anywhere between $1 million to $4.9 million within six months. Although Advani has refused to state his actual yearly income from Bitcoin trading, he makes more than $100,000 and has since quit his day job to travel the world.

Dan Morehead

Dan Morehead is another successful cryptocurrency trader who is also an investment advisor. He has a lot of experience in making portfolio investments from stocks, having worked with Goldman Sachs as a trader early on in his career. He worked briefly as CEO of Altriax between 2001 and 2002 before moving on to set up Pantera Capital Management, which manages one of the world’s most profitable cryptocurrency-based investment funds. Morehead has investments in over 40 cryptocurrency-based ventures. Since then, the fund has returned over 24,000% in profit.

Barry Silbert

Barry Silbert is a household name within the cryptocurrency global trading community, featuring on many prominent news media channels, including Bloomberg and CNBC. He made Fortune’s 40-under-40 list plus multiple awards from Forbes, fast company and Entrepreneur of the year award by Ernst’s and Young and Crain’s. Barry made most of his fortune through his bitcoin investment fund called “Bitcoin Opportunity Fund” which has investments in over 20 bitcoin related companies.
